1922 - 2015
AGE: 93 • Wilmington, DE
Camilla Santucci, formerly of Avondale, PA, passed away on July 20, 2015 at the age of 93. She was the oldest of 7 children to the late Samuel and Maria (DiVitantonio) Santucci from Abruzzo, Italy. She was predeceased by three brothers, Salvator, Samuel, and Sante Santucci; two sisters, Mary Day and Anna Berardi; and her God Daughter Niece, Cynthia Berardi McCoy.
Cam was born on January 23, 1922 and graduated from St. Patrick's Parochial School (Kennett Square, PA), Kennett High School, and Goldey Beacom Business School in Wilmington, DE. She was hired by the Finishes & Fabrics Dept. of the DuPont Co. where she worked as an Executive Secretary. She retired in 1987 after 45 years of service.
Cam was an active member of the DuPont Country Club where she joined the Active Ladies Golf group playing in tournaments and was successful in winning many of them. She enjoyed traveling to golf resorts, and volunteered with the LPGA Groups visiting Wilmington.
She was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Wilmington. Cam, with the late Fr. Roberto Balducelli and other members set up the "Wilmington Friends of Italian Culture" group in 1967. She was an active member and officer, and helped organize programs and bus trips pertaining to Italian Culture.
She traveled extensively in the USA as well as many parts of the world including several trips to the Holy Land and riding a camel to the pyramids in Egypt. She especially enjoyed her 12 trips to Italy where she met and visited relatives for the first time.
She is survived by her sister, Teresa Santucci Rowley (Francis Neil Rowley), Claymont, DE, her nephews & nieces, Mario Berardi, Jr., Kennett Sq., PA; Diane B. Tuttle (David), Jacksonville, FL; Anna Anita Berardi (William Maher), Portland, Ore; Michele Berardi (Scott Walker), West Chester, PA; Cami Day (Ralph Nitkin), Rockville, MD; Chiara Day, Irvine, CA; Steven Santucci (Barbara), Yardley, PA; Nancy Santucci Cohen (Richard), Philadelphia, PA; plus 27 grand & great nieces and nephews.
Her family thanks St. Francis Hospital & the Staff at Compassionate Care Hospice for their special care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 9th and DuPont Sts in Wilmington, on Monday, July 27 at 11:30am. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday morning, prior to mass, from 9:30-11:15am. Interment will be held at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Rt 82 in Kennett Square, PA, on Tuesday morning, July 28th at 11:00a.m.
